What made you decide to hire me as your photographer?: I met you a long time ago as we worked on a wedding together.. lol seems so long ago now! Fast forward to being able to work with you taking care of our lovely boudoir clients, I had NO DOUBT when I was ready to get my own photos done, you would be the only person to do them for me. Your talent and eye for beautiful artistry is spot on, your compassion and deep understanding of how to capture your client in the best, most flattering way. Connecting with them on a level to make them feel secure, confident and beautiful!! No one else does it like you do!

What made you decide to do a boudoir session? Describe how to came to that decision!: I came out of a long 30+ year relationship.. that thank God now I can really see was not healthy in many many many ways. As part of my job, I take care of the hair and makeup for many many beautiful clients and wanted some day to do my own. In my former personal relationship, I was told I couldn’t do my own shoot for many reasons.. and now I know none of those were for my benefit. They were to cover up insecurities within inside of my ex. But I internalized these “reasons” and just gave up ever doing it. Then I had a huge life change.. I was free and with lots of therapy, healing… I realized I could do my own boudoir shoot! I was free to be me! All the things I was told.. that I kept inside that I believed was true.. it was time to see myself in a new light and rediscover the beautiful woman inside and outside..

How were you feeling before your shoot? Any thoughts going through your head?: I was nervous a bit. I have known Shalista for a long time and trust her 100% and she’s a wonderful friend. But it’s still a little nerve wracking to be in your underwear doing photos even with a friend! Lol I still had those nagging internal thoughts of what about this on my body, or that? Will I photograph ok? Will I look weird??! I had no worries about my hair or makeup as my very talented makeup artist and friend did it and it was fabulous! Yes I am a makeup artist too but it was so refreshing to have someone take care of me this time. By the time my hair and makeup was done, I was still nervous but felt and looked amazing!

Afterwards how did you feel?: It was surreal! I was on a high after the shoot and loved that by the end, I felt so comfortable and relaxed. Shalista has a way to put you at ease, and coaches you through positions and angles. I couldn’t wait to see the final photos later. All the thoughts about what my body did or did not look like were gone. She made me feel like a movie star :)
